Sunny Neji drops two singles, 'Sibo' and 'Finally'

The man who has been tagged Nigeria's Luther Vandross 'cos of his track records in waxing soul-moving love songs, Sunny Neji is back on the scene a year after releasing his widely accepted album, Timeless. The highlife singer is gearing up to release two singles, Finally and Sido in coming weeks.

Mr. Neji came into public consciousness in 1997 and immediately became a nation-wide success with the release of his hit track, 'Mr Fantastik'. Many thought he would be another one-hit-wonder but he proved them wrong with release of hits after hits. 'Face me', 'Tolo Tolo', 'Ojoro' and 'Abosede' were some of the hits that further established his credibility in the industry. In 2003, love 'Oruka' became a national wedding song of sort and broke racial and generational barriers. The song put him in pedestal where no love song has reached several years after.

In 2011, Sunny Neji surprised everyone with another album titled, Timeless with hit tracks such as 'Lovey Dovey' which featured fast rising act; Jodie of 'Kuchi Kuchi' fame with the video shot in India by a top Indian music video director, the video also featured a top Bollywood actress. The album also has 'Awarawa' (ourselves) where he featured popular rapper, Jhibo, Fragrance on 'Bad as I Bad' and Kiki on 'No be Oyinbo'.

The singer is back in the music clime with yet another song, 'Finally' which he has tipped to outshine his previous wedding and national anthem, 'Oruka'. The artiste recently celebrated his birthday in the city of Ibadan, Oyo State with the less privileged.

It would be recalled that the singer made history last year as the first Highlife crooner to sell his music album for N1, 000, a move that further cemented his credibility as a very viable and reliable brand.

The singer spoke on his new singles, he said ''Sibo is a coinage that suggests 'take it easy', let's be friends that we ought to be. It means let us take it easy with each other; we are beginning not to appreciate each other as human beings again. The track 'Finally' is another wedding song people would love and appreciate. I believe this will surpass Oruka in all ramifications
